PRACTICE · DIVING
The profession underneath everything else.
Professional diving is where the career began and it remains the technical foundation underneath the rest of my work.
I have spent 14 years as a working PADI professional and have logged more than 3,000 dives across India, Malaysia and Thailand.
Professional progression
My professional roles have included PADI Instructor, Master Instructor, Course Director, business owner and senior dive-operations leadership.
I became a PADI Course Director in 2017 and have since conducted 18 Instructor Development Courses and worked with approximately 50 instructor candidates.
Instruction and professional education
Training has ranged from recreational courses through professional development. As a Course Director, the work includes developing instructors who will themselves take responsibility for training, safety and standards in their own classrooms, confined-water sites and open-water environments.
Operations
Professional diving has also meant working beyond instruction. My operating experience includes resort-based dive centres, liveaboard operations, boats and marine assets, equipment, compressors and gas systems, emergency planning, staff development, guest experience, sales and destination-level projects.
Additional practice
I am a PADI Freediver Instructor and hold technical diving qualifications through PADI Tec 40, Tec 45 and Tec 50, as well as TecRec Gas Blender.
I also hold multiple specialty instructor and Instructor Trainer ratings across deep, enriched air, wreck, sidemount, equipment, navigation, emergency oxygen, digital underwater photography, fish identification, Dive Against Debris and PADI AWARE disciplines.
